Huawei to Build China Telecom's 40G WDM Transmission Network
August 08, 2008
Having recently announced the development of a 100G WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) prototype, China's Huawei Technologies has been selected by China Telecom to build a 40G WDM transmission network between Shanghai and Wuxi of Jiangsu Province, according to a press release by Huawei. The high-bandwidth Internet network, leveraging on Huawei's SuperDRZ, eDQPSK, and C-band extension technologies, is reportedly the first commercial 40G WDM network in China. By means of said technologies, this network is expected to achieve long-haul transmission of up to 1,500km without electrical regeneration, 20% augmentation of fiber-optic transmission bandwidth, as well as 3.84T transmission capacity on the DWDM (Dense WDM) system.
